When it was a contact sport played by either a) ruffians, cast out by the Krays for being a bit rough or b) skinny wee gallumphs who learned how to run fast, getting away fae the tallyman.

And so it was in 1971 when the finest of Scottish footballers took to the stage in front of 36,000 fans at Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen to swipe away the midgets of Belgium. They scurried back to the land of moustaches and chips after being humped 1-0 thanks to a sixth minute goal from John O’Hare.
