I went tae Arbroath once after being telt it has the best fish and chips in Angus. It didnae even have the best fish and chips in Arbroath. The sad faces of the pensioners coach party that had been dropped off there will haunt me for many a long day. Even my granny wouldnae have made the trip (in joke for Francie & Josie fans).
It was aw right for me, I hopped on the train back tae Carnoustie and had a slap up fish tea in the Corner Hotel. But it was a lot different back in the seventies when Arborath was an action packed hotspot for the go-getters of Angus. Beer, bakers and the Cafe Kit Kat (the one the Parisians were so jealous of).
