Antigone / The Proposal at the ADC Cambridge 1951

Written by:

Apparently, the ADC Theatre is Britain’s oldest University playhouse. Plays have been presented on the site since 1855, when the Cambridge University Amateur Dramatic Club (CUADC) was founded, and the society met and performed in the back room of the Hoop Inn.

They didn’t have much to say for themselves in 1951 when they presented Antigone and The Proposal for five nights. But at least the Masters of Trinity College lent them a settee. Which was nice. You can see the programme as a flipbook thing here.

Sadly, The Proposal is unrelated to the Sandra Bullock film of the same name. {sighs}

Lots of auld gubbins for sale over on the eBay.
