AULDGUBBINS.CO.UK – Retro, theatre and Assorted auld gubbins

Yes, we’re off to glamorous Coatbridge.  Officially, the “most dismal town in Scotland”, they can at least point to the fact that per head of population, more regeneration money has been wasted here than anywhere else in Scotland.  Back in the headlines recently after the death of Marmalade singer, Dean Ford, it is hoped they can find some money to open a joint Marmalade / Fran & Anna museum.  At least Albion Rovers are doing well.  Oh, right.

Thirty years ago it was a magnet for Whifflet* based tourists who came to gawp at the marvels in the cash and carry, Cameron and Cosh the jewellers and to experience a warm welcome fae Big Owen at Big Owens Bar.

*fun fact. I was once offered a job as head of IT at an engineering firm in Whifflet. I might have taken it had they not made the terrible mistake of interviewing me in Whifflet.
