Let’s go back to a time when we still had rationing and most folk could only dream of buying the items advertised below.  Crosse & Blackwell soup, maybe.  If it was someone’s birthday.  But a Rolex?  So I think it’s safe to say that this lot of ads were aimed firmly at the well off.

So my bunch of Leithers and West Lothian miners were well out of luck.
